AXIS Back to School Night 长菁返校之夜——家长会

On Wednesday, August 21st, Back to School Night was held on campus. This event is a tradition of international schools providing opportunities for parents to meet teachers at the beginning of the new school year.

A welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Don, our Head of School. He began by expressing his excitement about returning to work in Asia. He then shared his educational philosophy with the parents, emphasizing the importance of individualizing education to optimize each student’s education.

“AXIS is an inviting, inclusive teaching and learning environment where there are no “invisible” students, where children’s unique talents and interests are fostered, and where “kids” come before “content”. In other words, we prioritize the child first and then the academic subject content, skills, and concepts.” Said Dr.Don.

After Dr. Don’s welcome, parents visited their children’s classrooms and met the teachers. In the primary school, homeroom teachers introduced themselves and shared their teaching plans and learning resources. Parents also had chances to communicate individually with the homeroom teachers and learning partners. These conversations helped strengthen the parent-school connection, fostering better collaboration to support our students’ academic success.

In the secondary school, teachers allocated different time slots by subject, inviting parents to ask questions and engage in conversations. Teachers also prepared presentations to share their educational backgrounds, learning objectives, and classroom activities. This information gave parents a more comprehensive understanding of their students’ daily learning experience.

A strong parent-school connection always plays a crucial role in supporting students’ learning journey. AXIS deeply values understanding students’ individual needs and incorporating feedback from their parents.  Effective communication between the school and parents ensures success for students.

本周三，8月21日， 长菁返校之夜在校园里进行。这项国际学校的传统活动之所以举办，为的是在新学年开始，让家长们有机会与孩子的老师们见面。

活动一开始，由我们的总校长Dr. Don致欢迎辞。Dr. Don首先表达了他对于重返亚洲工作的激动心情。随后，他还与家长们分享了他的教育理念，强调了个性化教育的重要性，以此优化每一个学生的教育。

“AXIS是一个充满吸引力、包容性的教学环境，在这里，没有“隐形”的学生，我们会培养孩子的独特才能和兴趣，把孩子放在第一位，而不是单纯追求学科内容、技能和概念。”Dr. Don 说道。

在Dr. Don的欢迎致辞之后，家长们移步到他们孩子的教室与老师们见面交流。在小学部，主班老师们首先进行自我介绍，而后分享了他们的教学计划和学习资源。家长们也有机会与主班老师和助教老师一对一交流。这样的沟通能够帮助我们加强家校联系，促进更好的合作，共同支持学生在学术上取得成功。

在中学部，老师们根据学科安排了不同的时间段，邀请家长提出他们的问题并且一起进行交流。老师们向家长介绍了自己的教育背景，课堂学习目标以及课堂活动等。这些信息让家长们对于学生的日常学习体验有了更好更全面的了解。

紧密联系的家校关系在我们为学生的学习旅程提供支持的过程中起着重要的作用。长菁非常重视去了解学生的个人需求，并且结合家长们的反馈。家校之间的高效沟通确保了孩子在未来取得成功。
